Safety instructions and rules

Below are some health guidelines for runners from “Standards for holding sports events for long runs” (Ministry of Health, 2013).
The preparation regarding drinking should start a day or two before the race, in order to reach the race full. The general guidelines are: 48 hours before the race
1) Increase the eating of pasta-type carbohydrates, or rice or potatoes or bananas – all this causes an increase in fluid retention in the body (1 gram of glycogen stores 2.7 grams of water with it)
2) salt the food a little more than usual, another factor in increasing the accumulation of fluids in the body along with the salts (salts, which are excreted with the sweat during running)
3) Do not overdo drinking coffee and alcoholic beverages that increase fluid excretion from the body
4) Drink 500 cc of water two hours before the jump
5) Take another half-liter bottle of water to the start area and drink in small sips until the moment of the start

while running
Drink water at every stop. In hot conditions, you should also pour water on your head and body and cool off with water sprinklers along the route. The amount of water to be drunk during running should correspond to the amount lost in sweat, as calculated during the training (see above). Do not drink more than that, due to the danger of developing hyposodium in the serum (hypothermia). The recommended drinking rate is 7 ml/kg/hour for men (for a person weighing 70 kg about half a liter per hour) and 6 ml/kg/hour for women. In addition, add another 100-300 ml per hour according to the rate of sweating and according to the weather conditions.

after the run
Drink water as needed. As explained above, it is recommended to weigh yourself before and after the run (without clothes, which are soaked in a lot of sweat) to estimate the volume of fluids lost during the run. Each drop of 1 kg from the weight before the run requires drinking 1 liter of water (no more!).

Preparation for races at different distances
Participating in long runs (over 10 km) requires careful preparation over time. as part of the training routine. The runner must know his body and its limitations and identify possible signs of distress, so that when he arrives at the race he:
A. Prepared himself through appropriate training for the relevant distance in which he participates
B. He will recognize during the run the distress signals that the body transmits and stop the run before the collapse.
Do not run in races distances greater than those that the participant has prepared himself in training. For example: someone who trains for a 10 km run will not compete in a longer race. Participation in the half marathon is recommended after completing at least 3 runs of 10 km in the two years prior to the half marathon.
Participation in a marathon is recommended after participating in at least 2 half-marathon races that took place in the two years before the marathon.
Basic rules of conduct for participating in long distance races:

1. It is recommended to be checked by the family doctor before starting training. The test should also include an ECG chart to rule out congenital heart defects.
2. It is recommended to consult on the training plans with a coach authorized for this.
3. It is recommended to train in a running group with a coach.
4. In case of injury or illness, every day that is “lost” requires 2 days of back-to-back training in the training program.
5. If the runner has an illness accompanied by fever, or upset stomach or diarrhea, in the week before the race – do not participate in the race at all and consult a professional about a plan to return to training.

Health and Safety
Everyone knows that participating in a marathon or a shorter race requires good health and physical fitness.
It is known that despite all the preparations, some runners get into trouble during the run, so we ask for your attention and commitment to the instructions established for your protection and for their benefit.
The instructions given here are not meant to replace a controlled training program, supervised and led by a qualified trainer and sports and health professionals.
It is recommended to be checked by the family doctor before starting training. The test should also include a periodic physical fitness test (ergometric test).
In case of injury or illness, every day that is “lost” requires at least two training days of rehabilitation and returning to the level and pace of faith you were at. If you suffered in the days before the race from an illness accompanied by fever or upset stomach or diarrhea – do not participate in the race! A doctor and trainer should be consulted about the timing of returning to the trust program.
Read and learn the topic of preventing heat stroke and get used to drinking a lot.
Give thought to nutrition, sleep and preparations for the race. Throughout the race itself, drinking and nutritional enrichment stations are scattered – use them, quench your thirst, stock up on an energy supplement and continue on, don’t skip a single station.
Prepare the running equipment and make sure it is comfortable for you and suitable for a long run.
Be sure to wear a hat and it is recommended to wear sunglasses.

Medical Certificates

Following the 12.2015 court ruling, medical certificates are not required, but the participant’s signature on a health declaration during registration.

 

Nutrition Recommendations

The Israel Marathon was born out of a love for running and a desire to establish an international level racing scene in Israel with the special character of Israeli society.

It all started in 2008 when a friend returned from the New York Marathon and ignited a spark of passion in Ofer Padan, CEO of the Israel Marathon, which fell on the 50-year-old crisis and was also the opening shot of the departure from rent to independence.

With the development of the company, Marathon Israel became an official member of the international marathon organization – aims.

Terms of engagement and responsibility for races produced and under the responsibility of the Israel Marathon
1. Marathon Israel organizes races and competitions intended for the general public under the conditions detailed below. You must carefully read this regulation to avoid misunderstandings.
2. Registration for the race organized by the Israel Marathon constitutes agreement to the conditions detailed in these regulations and the race registration form.
Date and place of the race
3. The race will be held on 4/6/21.

5. The races are for ages 18 and over. The date that determines the age of the registrant is the day of the race.
6. Marathon Israel cannot guarantee that data regarding a particular race provided at a certain time will not change afterwards due to constraints that do not depend on Marathon Israel and/or force majeure, and therefore claims on this subject of changing data cannot be grounds for any claim and/or demand against Marathon Israel.

Registration and payment
7. The registration must be done on a detailed form with the details of the participating runner. The registration form must be signed and indicate the registration fee that will guarantee a place for the registrant, including payment methods (cash, credit card).
8. When registering for the race and providing the email address to the Israel Marathon representatives (orally or on the registration form), the runner confirms receipt of mailings, messages and advertisements via email, mobile phone and any other means.
9. If a participant wants to remove his address from the distribution list, he can do so by clicking on cancel receiving marketing messages at the bottom of the page or by sending a return email to the Israel Marathon address.

Conditions of participation
10. The start of the race is conditional on a minimum number of participants as detailed in each race. Marathon Israel will be entitled to cancel any race even a few days before its start.
The Israel Marathon does not commit to a maximum number of participants, unless otherwise stated.
11. Participation in the various stages of the race is the sole responsibility of the participating runner. In fact, by registering for the race, the registrant declares and undertakes that he is fit and healthy and that there is no other medical impediment to his participation in the race, that he knows that the organizers of the race and/or anyone on their behalf have no responsibility towards him in regards to any damage and/or injury that may be caused to him of any kind and type as a result of his participation in the race and that he does not have and hereby waives any claim, claim and/or demand against the organizers of the race or anyone on their behalf in all matters related to damage and/or injury that they cause if they are caused.
12. Running in the competitive stages will only be allowed to those who have complied with all the conditions detailed below and cumulatively:
A. is registered for the race and his name and details appear on the race date in the lists of organizers and timekeepers.
B. He wears a race timing chip as well as a race bib number that he received based on his registration for the race and which bears his name and details. Anyone who does not meet the conditions listed above will not be allowed to run in the race and the organizers will be entitled to prevent him from running and remove him from the running route. In any case, those who do not meet the conditions listed above will be disqualified and their result will not be measured.
13. A runner whose registration details are incorrect may be disqualified and his result will not be counted and he will not have any claim and/or demand in this regard against the organizers.
14. The runners are obliged to sign a health declaration in the form of the Israel Marathon in order to complete the registration process for the event. The text of the statement is on the company’s website.
15. Registration for the race is personal and cannot be transferred to another.
16. Each participant agrees that the organizers of the race may use photographs and/or images and the like of each participant and/or his videos before, during and after the event for advertising and public relations needs in any media and at any time, without compensation.
17. The full name of the runner, the town, the route and the result will be published in the list of runners on the website. If the runner does not want his name to appear in the list of runners, he can contact the customer service in writing.
18. The organizers and officials may disqualify runners who act in an unsportsmanlike manner or contrary to the instructions or who endanger themselves or other athletes. The participant fee will not be refunded to these runners.
19. Do not accompany the runners in running, cycling or in any other vehicle (except the organizers’ vehicles). A runner who is dragged by another person, cyclist or vehicle will be disqualified.
20. The finish line will be closed at the time determined by the Israel Marathon. Runners who will run at a significantly slow average pace will be asked to stop running, inform the officials that they have stopped, and if necessary, move to the finish line. The water and first aid crews will stop their operation and the race organizers are not responsible for the safety of runners who will continue to run on their own.

Cancellation of registration
21. The cancellation policy is in accordance with the Consumer Protection Law and its regulations.
22. When a race participant contacts the company in a transaction of purchasing a race without the joint presence of him and the company’s representative for the transaction or when the race participant is not present at the company’s offices, (remote sales transaction), and when the contract is due to the company contacting the race participant through remote marketing – (mail) , telephone, radio, television, electronic communication, fax, publication of catalogs or ads in newspapers) –
A participant in the race may cancel his participation in the race by written notice to the company (including by facsimile, mail or electronic communication) within 14 days from the date of making the transaction.
23. A race participant cancels the race transaction he purchased, within 14 days from the date of making the transaction, as stated above, due to a defect in the transaction or due to a discrepancy between the details of the race for which the company has committed and the details provided to the participant in the race (including the details of the company, the price, terms of payment, right the cancellation, a written document regarding the details of the company and the race, etc.) – the company will return to the participant in the race, within 30 days, from the date of receipt of the notification of the cancellation, that part of the transaction price paid by the participant in the race, cancel the charge of
